Welcome to my portfolio! My name is Micaela Soucy and I am graduating from Elon University in May 2018 with a B.A. in English and a concentration in Professional Writing and Rhetoric. I have also completed minors in Communications and International Studies. Upon first arriving at Elon, I was a declared International Studies major, but with time I realized my scholarly interests lay more in communication and collaboration within a variety of contexts. Therefore, I switched my major, but kept an International Studies minor in order to fulfill my intrigue in the world at large.
Since becoming a Professional Writing and Rhetoric major, I have gained an extensive repertoire in rhetorical concepts and practical writing techniques, all of which have allowed my writing abilities to grow and improve. My mind has been trained to analyze situations in ways others may have a harder time grasping. Whether it's catering toward a certain audience or finding the right time to say something, I am able to use my rhetorical knowledge to make specific decisions about a discourse.
I have divided my portfolio into three sections: Collaborator, Multimedia Author and Professional Writer. Each section showcases a bit of my Professional Writing and Rhetoric identity and the diversity in my abilities as a rhetorician. The documents I have chosen are an assortment of academic assignments and internship deliverables that I believe demonstrate an expansion of knowledge over the years. A contextual narrative is provided with each document so you may better understand how I have been able to put the knowledge I have gained into practice.

I chose Wix as the medium for my portfolio because it allowed me to manipulate the template for the website the most. This was important because I want my portfolio to reflect the work I've completed during my time as a Professional Writing major. I also wanted to showcase a bit of my personality so that reviewers can get a sense of who I am as an individual and as a professional.
